Brown bowler time

For many years wearing a bowler hat to Goodwood would have been regarded as a bit comical. For Panamas have long been the order of the day. I only mention this because in relation to the bowler hat prevalence times there was the further distinction that one should not wear a brown bowler before Goodwood or, I think, after Goodwood. This is very muddling.

However, I draw readers' attention to Jakajaro in the 3.45 at Goodwood today. He will not be wearing a bowler hat or indeed any sort of hat. But his trainer knows what he is doing and 5/1 is a big price.
