I have just been listening to BBC Radio 4's account of the fall of Singapore in 1942. But the real end of WWII came in December 1941 when Japan's mates in the 'Axis', Germany, faced America's retaliating for Pearl Harbour. Instantly effectively unlimited armaments and trained men were unleashed upon Germany and that was that. Hitler, being the idiot he was, should have surrendered on 8th December 1941. But he lacked imagination.
