HSBC Visa credit cards in practice

As it happens I have had this card for 35+ years (it was then known as Access) and expect to receive my statement by post each 22nd or so of the month. That due on 22nd September 2025 had never turned up. So I telephoned HSBC's call centre in India (I judge by the sound of the voice of the lady who answered). Her English was incomprehensible. So after a quarter of an hour I gave up and had then to write by post to HSBC Visa's UK address.

Yesterday I got a letter advising that since they have no record of my signature they could not know that my identity was as I declared it in this letter - despite the fact that I gave my name and used my home address just as I had for the last 35+ years. HSBC therefore want me to go to my local branch of HSBC (I have no idea where or what it is) and present myself with a photographic passport or a driver's licence. At that point I gave up dealing with "Your HSBC Banking Team" and have on intention of ever dealing with them again.

By the way, the missing statement had turned up a week ago.
