Mingering Mike dodged the Vietnam draft - such conduct attracted a ten year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine. Mingering Mike hid himself away in a friend's property in Washington DC and wrote and published many songs and records. This amazing performance came to an end when Jimmy Carter issued a general amnesty.
Mingering Mike thought no more but, many years later, his work is recognised in the Smithsonian. I learnt all this from BBC's overseas radio between 3.00 a.m. and 3.50 a.m. this morning. You can pick it up either on BBC Sounds or by trying for
