Today's Times reports that the latest wheeze to deceive devised by HMG is legislation to enforce prompt payment. to creditors of overwheening businesses. A moment's reflection will show that this cannot possibly achieve anything since it must remain the right of a potential debtor to insist that a debt is due before it is paid. However, we can now watch the fools who govern us dig in to waste yet more time and money. Aren't they clever and caring!
