The real day for ladies

I have always thought that Royal Ascot's terming the Thursday 'Ladies day' a bit odd given that the feature race is the Gold Cup which is usually dominated by geldings. However Epsom's reference to Oaks day as Ladies Day seems entirely reasonable since the Oaks is confined to fillies. And here we are:

After the 1,000 Guineas Charlie Appleby declared that he reckoned that Desert Flower (tipped here at 3/1) would stay the Oaks distance of a mile and a half. I thought that if Charlie thinks so that's good enough for me. However, I see that there are doubts about Desert Flower's capacity to stay and therefore I plump for Whirl at 6/1.

Qilin Queen has been pointed out to me as worth it at 33/1 each way. But Whirl seems closer to the pace.
